Goal

My objective was to regularly email reports to clients. You may send our PowerBI reports thanks to a subscription option that Microsoft has implemented. This can only be emailed to that person and not to anybody outside of your organization and requires a Premium Per User membership to do so. You would need to upgrade your license to P1 and it would be prohibitively expensive if you wanted to email external clients.

The Solution

I came up with a workaround using a SharePoint list as a central repository to send emails in order to enable email sending.

1. Request an email copy of the report by subscribing.

2. Use Power Automate to save report PDF files to the SharePoint document library from your email.

3. To control which report is provided to the client, use a SharePoint list and compose your email with the report attachment.

4. Send emails from the SharePoint list using Power Automate based on the choices you’ve chosen in the list.
